Reflexology
What does a treatment involve?
All you need to remove for this treatment is your shoes and socks. You will then be invited to lie on the couch where you can enjoy the tranquility and drift away to relaxing backgroung music. The treatment begins with a gentle foot massage which is followed by the application of pressure to the reflex points in the feet. Any imbalances in these reflex areas will be worked on to help release blockages and encourage the body's own natural healing process. The pressure used is firm but not painful and the treatment should leave you feeling calm and relaxed.
As the body's systems begin to balance and unwanted toxins start to clear, a healing reaction may sometimes occur following treatment. This is a normal and positive reaction to treatment and any effects should clear within 24hrs.
What is reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient art dating back over 2500 years. This holistic treatment works on the hands and/or feet to balance the whole body. Both massage and pressure point techniques are used and have an effect on the energy pathways of the body. Each part of the foot corresponds to a part or area of the body.
Energy can sometimes be in excess, deficient or stagnated and reflexology is used to create balance and harmony in the systems of the body. Congestion and imbalances can be detected in the hands and feet and the body’s natural balance restored.
Who can benefit from reflexology?
The majority of people can benefit from reflexology in some way, even if it is only through the deep relaxation that it provides.
Whilst reflexology is extemely beneficial throughout pregnancy it is important that you inform the therapist if you are, or intend to become, pregnant so that a suitable treatment plan can be agreed beforehand.

Vertical Reflexology (VRT)
This 15 minutre routine is carried out whilst the client is standing and, because weight is bearing down on pressure points in the feet, it is a fast and effective treatment. A vertical reflexology treatment:
- provides deeper access to reflex points so that the treatment is quick and effective.
- provides access to many new reflex points including those in the calf which can help ease back pain and chest conjestion and those for stimulating the immune system
- both compliments and enhances the full reflexology treatment
- can be safely carried out on yourself
- significant results can be achieved is just 5 minutes
As with conventional reflexology, the list of ailments that can be treated with VRT is endless. This treatment has had particularly good results for people with sciatica, whiplash unjuries, chronic stomach pain, stiff hip, knee and back joints, stiff neck joints (e.g. a `crick' in the neck), to name but a few.
Highly recommended as part of your overall reflexology treatment or on its own.
